Across three seasons, Netflix’s drug drama Narcos told the story of Pablo Escobar’s rise and fall, the emergence of the Cali Cartel, and the agents tasked with fighting their reign. And now for its next run, the factual crime drama is zoning on a new location and going back to a different era in the drug trade: get ready for Narcos: Mexico. This time the kingpin is Félix Gallardo and his Guadalara Cartel, who reigned in the 1970s, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Diego Luna is heading to the dark side to take on the lead role.

Going up against him is Michael Peña as DEA agent Kiki Camarena – a man who was instrumental in the story of the war on drugs. “From very early on I had a plan to connect Colombia and Mexico,” showrunner and executive produce Eric Newman told Empire. “Anyone doing even a cursory analysis of drug trafficking would see there is an unavoidable connection.”
