Now, this is a little curious. A few days ago it was reported that production on Angels and Demons, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, was being delayed due to the writer's strike. But today the New York Post is reporting that Naomi Watts has joined the cast of the Ron Howard movie. Admittedly, it is on its gossip page, Page Six, so take this with a pinch of bullshit.
No specifics are given on who Watts would play, but we'd imagine she'd be the female lead. In this case that would be Vittoria, the adopted daughter of a physicist who is murdered at the beginning of the book, apparently by the Illuminati. Vittoria then joins Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) on his quest to thwart an attempt to blow up the Vatican. However, you may have guessed from the name Vittoria that the character is Italian. Could Watts actually look less Italian? Is there another character she could be playing?
