Netflix has made no secret of its desire to keep pushing into original TV, and has now scored Naomi Watts to star in a new psychological thriller series called Gypsy.
Currently scheduled for an initial run of 10 one-hour episodes, Gypsy will follow Jean Holloway (Watts), a therapist who starts to get a little too close with the people in her patients' lives, a big no-no in psychological work and likely the cause of more than a few problems.
Lisa Rubin is on board as the show's head writer and executive producer alongside Liza Chasin, and Nowhere Boy/Fifty Shades Of Grey's Sam Taylor-Johnson kicking off the series by directing the first two episodes and acting as executive producer on the others. The show is backed by Working Title and Universal Television and should be on our screens via the streaming service next year.
Watts was last seen in The Divergent Series: Allegiant and will be back on our screens in Demolition, due on April 29. She also has a role in The Book Of Henry, which has yet to lock down a UK release date.
