And the Denali Clan nears completion...

MyAnna Buring Joins Breaking Dawn

Vampires in the Twilight universe often like to hunt in packs, and it would seem that they like to be cast in them too – mere days after Maggie Grace snagged the role of troubled female fang club member Irina, the rest of her family has come together for Breaking Dawn, with MyAnna Buring, Mia Maestro, Casey LaBow and Christian Camargo all joining the film as various members of the Denali clan.

You might remember from Grace’s casting story that the Denali is the only other group besides the Cullens that have pledged to stay “vegetarian”, and not feed from or hunt humans. They’re led by the Spanish couple Carmen (Maestro) and Eleazar (Carmargo).

But that’s not to say the coven is entirely friendly to our heroes. Buring and LaBow are joining Grace as a trio of Russian sisters, with Buring’s Tanya rivalling Bella for Edward’s attention. LaBow’s Kate, meanwhile, can produce electric shocks. And the whole clan at one point refuses to fight the Volturi, thanks to a longstanding beef with Jacob and the werewolves.

Buring has a little bit of experience with vampires, having appeared in (whisper it) Lesbian Vampire Killers, though she also has the much more effective horror tale The Descen****t to her credit. LaBow is a veteran of short-lived US vampire series Moonlight and Maestro dealt with action and danger on Alias.

Bill Condon is directing both Breaking Dawn films, with the first one due on November 18, 2011 an the second November 16, 2012.
