Since the Japanese seem content to feed the West a steady diet of horrors that we can turn into less-impressive remakes, doesn’t it seem right that Hollywood can send its own terrors to the Far East?
Okay, okay, we’re being unnecessarily cruel: it’s only Brittany Murphy. But she did star in Little Black Book and Uptown Girls. Andit would take six Sin City’s to make up for that prize pair.
In The Ramen Girl, Murphy stars as a woman who finds herself in both Tokyo and dumpsville (population: her) when her boyfriend ditches her in the Far East. Desperate to find some sort of direction in life, she signs up to train as a ramen noodle chef under the guidance of a shouty Japanese Gordon Ramsey type played by Toshiyuki Nishida.
Shooting in Japan from a script by Becca Topol, the film will have its shots called by TV movie director Robert Allen Ackerman.
