Revolution, the production company headed by Michael Winterbottom, has optioned Murder in Samarkand, the memoirs of Craig Murray, the former UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan.
Steve Coogan, who recently worked with Winterbottom on thjer BAFTA nominated A Cock And Bull Story is in the running to play Murray who was sacked in 2004 after drawing attention to torture and human rights abuses in Uzbekistan.
Seeing as the book hasn't even been published yet (think June people), Winterbottom will film Genova before he gets started. It's an Italian-set ghost story about a British man who moves to Genova with his two American daughters after their mother dies. **Wonderland's **Laurence Coriat penned the screenplay.
