D23: Ms Marvel Series In The Works For Disney+

Back in June, there was chatter about Mindy Kaling having a conversation with Marvel about possibly working on a Ms. Marvel project. That hasn't quite come to pass, but Kamala Khan will be making her screen debut, as The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Disney+ will carry a Ms. Marvel series.

While we're sure the Mouse House would probably rather this broke during the D23 event panel for Disney+, it's out there now, and we can expect more details soon. But it's nice to know that the young hero – Marvel's first Muslim lead will get the chance to have her body-shifting, stretchy powers portrayed on screen. A Pakistani American living in New Jersey, Kahn juggles dealing with her religious family and her crime-fighting mission in her neighbourhood.

Comedian and writer Bisha K. Ali, a veteran of Netflix's Sex Education who has also worked on the Kaling-created Four Weddings And A Funeral, is running the show. And while the series is a solid step forward, we can't help but wonder whether Khan will end up on the big screen, filling the potential hole left by another young character who battles baddies in New York...
