The late Mrs William Shatner, who was found dead in the couple's swimming pool in August, was drunk and stoned when she died, according to the Los Angeles Coroner. E Online reports that Nerine Shatner, 40, had substance abuse problems that led to a stay at the Betty Ford clinic, but apparently she had trouble beating what her husband called "the serpent of alcoholism".

Shatner found his wife floating in the pool and called the emergency services before lifting her body out of the water - a move that initially created suspicion. After the autopsy results however, it's emerged that Nerine had taken Valium and her blood-alcohol level was three times the state limit. We think that means the the limit for driving...
