Neither the guests themselves or the hundreds of media observers in California this weekend were in any doubt that the wedding of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston was the Hollywood social event of the year. More than $1 million dollars had been lavished on the ceremony which saw Tinseltown's most eligible batchelor finally taken off the market. There were plenty of well-known faces in the 200-strong congregation that gathered in a coastal Malibu estate to see the pair say their vows, including every member of the Friends cast and a generous helping of film stars from Cameron Diaz and Ed Norton to Salma Hayek. As interest in the event grew, Aniston and Pitt gave the job of ensuring privacy on their big day to a former head of the Israeli secret service. Security meaures included guests being asked to sign confidentiality agreements, while the Federal Aviation Administration took the unusual step of closing airspace over the area while the wedding took place. Happily for the couple there was no mention made of Pitt's stalker, Athena Marie Rolando, turning up for the ceremony. Rolando recently failed to show up for two court hearings and has had a warrant issued for her arrest.
