Mother's Day Trailer Online

It's hard to believe (for some of us) that The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is now almost twenty years old. Those intervening two decades have allowed Rebecca de Mornay to progress from killer au pair to serial mom. Exhibit A: this trailer for **Mother's Day{ =nofollow}.

Not an entry in Garry Marshall's Valentine's Day / New Year's Eve cycle - although it'd be amusing if some of that audience showed up - Mother's Day is a "psychological horror thriller" by Saw's Darren Lynn Bousman.

What that seems to mean is some serious home invasion. The word "tortuous" applies to both the onscreen action and the plot, which sees three brothers on the run from a botched bank robbery, heading home to mother only to find that, due to foreclosure, she no longer lives there. Which is bad news for new homeowners Jaime King and Frank Grillo, especially when the matriarch actually arrives to take control of the situation and mastermind her brood's bid for freedom.

This clip, while not an official trailer (it's a sales promo for potential distributors) gives a good idea of the unpleasantness in store, and demonstrates that, if heads won't exactly roll, they will have plastic bags to contend with. Mother, the blood!

Expect an officially official trailer before too long. Mother's Day will attack UK cinemas on April 1st. Bousman's religious thriller 11/11/11 is currently in production.
