If you’ve never been to the heaving genre Mecca that is the annual San Diego Comic-Con, but always wanted to, or if you’re fascinated by what goes on there, but unable to make it/too worried to be in the presence of so many obsessive types, then **Super Size Me director **Morgan Spurlock, Joss Whedon and Ain’t It Cool’s Harry Knowles might just have the answer: a documentary about the event.
Comic-Con Episode Four: A Fan’s Hope will be a feature doc about seven different attendees from around the world as they make their pilgrimage to the convention. The shoot kicks off in June, while the event itself happens between July 21 and 25 this year.
Spurlock will direct, and blabbed in a statement picked up by the Heat Vision Blog about why he decided to take on the project after attending his first Con: "It was such an overwhelming experience for me, and I soon found out that I was not alone. So for me to get to share the experience of Comic-Con with fans all over the world will be an incredible opportunity."
With Whedon, Knowles and fellow producers Jeremy Chilnick and Legendary Pictures chief Thomas Tull aboard, it’ll explore the various areas of the convention, aiming to document the highs and lows. Given our years of attending, we predict queues, crowding and half-dressed ladies surrounded by drooly nerdlings will feature heavily.
Team Empire will be there once more this summer to bring you all the best bits and the usual brand of madness.
