Director Ron Shelton has't made a film since 2003's Hollywood Homicide, but he's back at last with a new action comedy called Villa Capri that will star Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones.

Shelton is pulling double duty, writing and directing the film, which finds a retired FBI agent and a ex-mob lawyer who is under the witness protection programme as cranky neighbours who never quite get on. But when the mob tracks down their snitch, the two men will have to put aside their differences – usually expressed via the golf course – and go on the run.

It's described as in the vein of Midnight Run, which is an exceedingly high bar to hurdle, but it does at least boast two solid performers who have experience blending humour with gunplay. The cameras should be cranking this summer in Mexico.

Freeman has Now You See Me 2 hitting on July 8 and Ben-Hur riding in on August 26. Jones will be a CIA boss in Jason Bourne, which arrives on July 29.
