Moon Knight, She-Hulk, And Ms Marvel First-Look Footage Unveiled On Disney+

Marvel Studios – Disney+ Day 2021

Let’s be honest, Marvel knows what it’s doing. As part of Disney+ Day, Marvel Studios has unveiled first looks at three of its most anticipated upcoming shows – the Oscar Isaac-starring Moon Knight, Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk, and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel. But here’s the rub: you can only watch it on Disney+. Chances are, if you’re an MCU die-hard, you probably already have a subscription to the Mouse House’s streaming service – and have already used it to watch WandaVision, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, and Loki – and if you do, you should head over this way (and scrub forward a good 12 minutes) to get your first glimpses at those shows.

For now, all we can do here is dig into what we saw. Let’s start with Moon Knight.

In the footage, we see a freaked-out Oscar Isaac in some kind of Egyptian exhibit – and is that some kind of British accent he’s putting on, as one of Marc Spector’s many personalities? There are glimpses of him in the character's classic white comic-book get-up – and a particularly Daredevil-esque shot of him leaping across rooftops, silhouetted against (what else?) the moon. Take that, E.T.

Next it’s onto She-Hulk – which sees Tatiana Maslany introducing herself as Jennifer Walters, a lawyer with a habit of turning green when she gets scared or angry. While we don’t see her in full Gamma-mode, there are partial shots of her going all Elphaba. Plus, we see her sharing the screen with Mark Ruffalo – both as Smart-Hulk, and as regular ol’ Bruce Banner. And, she gives a (we think we purposefully deadpan) recital of that iconic line: “Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry…”

And finally, it’s the turn of Ms. Marvel – here being brought to the screen by Iman Vellani. The comic book fan favourite character is, in her own words, a “brown girl from Jersey City” who gets cosmic abilities, and uses her fandom of Captain Marvel to spark her own superhero sideline. We get shots of her in Carol Danvers cosplay, at the mosque, and preparing to leap off a rooftop – all charming, and perhaps hinting at a different power-set than her super-stretchy Inhuman abilities on the page.

All that, plus there are glimpses of What If…? season 2, and reminders of more Marvel treats coming in the not-too-distant future – from James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special, to the freshly-unveiled X-Men ’97 and Agatha: House Of Harkness. Oh, and in one more treat, there’s what looks like a first glimpse of Samuel L Jackson’s returning Nick Fury in the upcoming Secret Invasion series – now with added beard. Or is that actually a Skrull? Start your betting now, gang…
