There are so many movies headed for rebirth as a TV series these days that it’ll soon be easier to list those that *aren’t *headed for the small screen. You can go ahead and take** Monster-In-Law** off that list, because Warner Bros. TV is developing a multi-camera comedy series inspired by the core concept.
If you can recall the largely forgettable 2005 comedy, it found Jennifer Lopez going up against her fiancé’s (Michael Vartan) overbearing mother (Jane Fonda) in the run-up to the wedding, with the awful pair playing actually life-threatening tricks on one another in an escalating battle of attrition. The TV version will shift things slightly, focusing on an already-attached couple confronting the challenges and parenthood while the wife also has to deal with the close bond between her husband and his mother.
Amy B. Harris and 30 Rock producer John Riggi are overseeing this one, which doesn’t yet have a network home and will have to wait and see if it finds one beyond pilot stage. The movie may not have been that great, but it did at least make money, earning $154.7 million globally, so the show at least has that going for it…
