If you’ve seen Appropriate Behaviour or Netflix’s horror sequel Creep 2, you’ll know that multihyphenate filmmaker Desiree Akhavan is one to watch. For The Miseducation of Cameron Post she’s got her writer, director, and executive producer hats on, bringing Emily Danforth’s novel about a young woman sent to a gay ‘conversion therapy’ centre to the big screen. The film boasts a top young cast led by Chloë Grace Moretz, American Honey’s Sasha Lane, and The Revenant’s Forrest Goodluck, and Empire has an exclusive look at the UK poster.

Set in the early 90s, the film stars Moretz as the titular Post who’s caught kissing a girl on prom night. Her conservative aunt packs her off to Christian camp God’s Promise for a “de-gaying” course, where she bonds with fellow outcast teens Jane and Adam. The film arrives in UK cinemas on 7 September.
