Here in the UK, we might have been enjoying episodes of Danish crime drama The Killing (AKA Forbrydelsen), but in the US, the remake on cable channel AMC has also being doing rather well. Part of that is thanks to a standout performance by actress Mireille Enos, and her work seems to really be getting her noticed, as Paramount is now in talks with her to join World War Z as Brad Pitt’s character’s wife.

Enos, whose career has mostly been on the smaller screen (including roles in Big Love, CSI: Miami, Rescue Me and Sex and the City), now looks to be preparing to make the leap to movies with the adaptation of Max Brooks’ cult zombie conflict chronicle.

If she signs, Enos will play Karen Lane, wife of Gerard (Pitt), the UN worker tracing the history of the global undead apocalypse through the recollections of those who survived and avoided the flesh-munching malingerers.

The film itself seems to be shuffling towards production much quicker these days after a brief period of budget worries. Marc Forster is still attached to direct and will apparently start shooting this summer, working from a script that has seen input from Changeling’s J Michael Straczynski and State of Play’s Matthew Michael Carnahan.
