With Mireille Enos already having scored a part on one big film this year (World War Z), it would seem that her positive career boost is not over yet. She’s joining Emma Stone in making sure that The Gangster Squad isn’t completely flooded with testosterone.

Enos will play Connie O’Mara, who just so happens to be married to Josh Brolin’s John. But don’t go thinking that she’ll be some stay-at-home housewife. Despite being pregnant with their child, Connie keeps her hubbie in line and also helps him select the candidates for the titular team.

The actress – who grabbed positive reviews and an Emmy nomination for her work as dogged cop Sarah Linden on US drama The Killing (a remake of Forbrydelsen) – beat out the likes of Amy Adams and Kate Winslet for the role.

She’s joining a cast that already includes Stone, Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Anthony Mackie, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Pena, Robert Patrick and Holt McCallany.

Gangster Squad, as you'll likely know by now, chronicles the real-life pursuits of a specially recruited team of LAPD officers dedicated to comabting the influx of East Coast gangsters to Los Angeles in the 1940s and '50s.

With Ruben Fleischer calling the shots, the movie is scheduled to kick off shooting next month.
