She's brought one of the most iconic (and funniest) portrayals of royalty to life in Black Adder II's Queenie, so it seems somehow a good fit for Miranda Richardson to head for the kingdom of Westeros. She'll play a part in the still-untitled Game Of Thrones prequel series.
Based on an idea by Thrones novelist/overlord George RR Martin, the show has been turned into a working concept by Kingsman's Jane Goldman. Set thousands of years before the stories now unfolding, it chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend... It’s not the story we think we know.
As with most of the roles so far, we know nothing of what Richardson will be playing. She joins a cast that includes Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo. Richardson is currently on screens in Sky's Curfew and will be seen in Good Omens.
