In just a short time, the TV adaptation of Joe Hill’s gothic horror mystery comic book **Locke & Key has come on apace. Which, we suppose, is not really all that tough when you have Steven Spielberg, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman backing your development. And while the show only has a pilot order so far from Fox in the US, it’s nabbed Miranda Otto for the lead with Never Let Me Go filmmaker Mark Romanek negotiating to direct.

**Key **follows the story of Nina Locke (the role Otto will be playing) and her three children – Tyler, Kinsey and Bode. The family survives a terrible tragedy and try to start over again at Keyhouse, their family home which just happens to be situated in Lovecraft, Massachusetts.

But this is not your bog-standard two up/two down des-res – it’s a mysterious mansion filled with strange keys that open doors in the house, sending the characters to a variety of places and bestowing any number of powers to help them. The big problem? Something nasty, with ties to the family, is also trying to track down the keys…

It’s still in its embryonic stages, but Locke & Key is already sounding good, boasting a pilot script from Sarah Connor Chronicles show-runner Josh Friedman. Romanek bringing his stylish touch to the proceedings bumps this one into the must-see category for us.
