With America’s collective noggin now firmly in Thanksgiving mode, the news has slowed to a crawl. But there’s still time to report that Mira Sorvino has locked in a deal to star in Union Square, a new indie drama.

Nancy Savoca co-wrote and will direct the film, which will also star Michael Rispoli, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Tammy Blanchard and Patti LuPone.

Union Square sounds like it’s taking a page from Rachel Getting Married’s book – as the plot focuses on two sisters, one who seemingly has her life together and is about to get married, the other who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. But who wants to guess that the sibling on the eve of her nuptials will eventually find problems?

There’s no word on when the film will get shooting, though given the apparently tiny nature of the production, it’ll probably kick off before Christmas arrives.
