Sony has bought the film pitch Minutemen from writers Brandon Camp and Mike Thompson for Neal The Fast And the Furious Moritz’ production company.

The story sees an “axis” of enemies attack the US for perceived imperialism, forcing the inhabitants of a small quarry town to thwart the invading armies’ plans to take over the nearby National Command Centre.

Moritz describes the film as “a high-concept action film – high tech vs. low tech.” Camp said that it is “an underdog tale about people that society expects very little from” while Thompson said that it is “an old-fashioned Everyman's tale of American ingenuity and heroism.” The title harks back to the militia units of the American Revolutionary War, who were said to be ready for action at a moment’s notice.

The screenwriters previously wrote Steinbeck's Point of View, which is currently in development with producer Mark Johnson.
