Disney has naturally been finding new ways to expand its deep library of movies and TV shows with new expansions, the better to keep people signing up for streaming service Disney+. Monsters At Work is set in the world of 2001's Monsters, Inc. and has now added Mindy Kaling to its voice cast.

Monsters At Work takes place the day after the Monsters, Incorporated power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley's (John Goodman) discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.

Kaling is playing Val Little, an enthusiastic part of the MIFT team. Fellow new recruits include Henry Winkler as Fritz, the scatterbrained MIFT boss, Lucas Neff as plumber Duncan, Alanna Ubach as rule-obsessed Cutter, Stephen Stanton as bumbling custodians Smitty and Needleman, and Aisha Tyler as Millie Tuskmon, Tyler's mother.

Returning voices include Bonnie Hunt (Ms. Flint), John Ratzenberger (Yeti, who also happens to be Tylor's father),Jennifer Tilly (Celia Mae), and Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister of his original character, Roz. The show will debut on Disney+ on 2 July.
