And you thought the cast couldn't get any better. The superb Tom Wilkinson is the latest recruit to join Hollywood's resident screwball Charlie Kaufman and his newest mind-bending yarn, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The In the Bedroom and The Full Monty actor has joined fellow Brit Kate Winslet in the flick's super-stellar cast which also includes in its line up Jim Carrey, Kirsten Dunst and Mark Ruffalo. With shooting scheduled to begin next month in New York under the directorial eye of Michel Gondry and from the brain behind Being John Malkovich and the upcoming Adaptation with Nicolas Cage, Kaufman's typically barmy tale centres round Joel Barish – played by Carrey - who falls in love with Winslet's Clementine Kruczynski. There's no happy ending to this love story, however, and when the relationship hits the rocks, both parties decide to eliminate the memories of their doomed affair. Halfway through getting their craniums scrubbed clean of their amorous past, the indecisive pair change their minds but find it's too late to hide from Dr. Mierzwiak, the chappie in charge of eliminating their memory waves and played by Wilkinson. Meanwhile the determined doctor is secretly having if off with his secretary (Kirsten Dunst) while one of his technicians (Ruffalo) is in love with Clementine. Got that? Love triangles galore, surreal psychological surprises and more Kaufmanesque moments than you can shake your utterly confused head at. We can hardly wait.
