You might think that having Sylvester Stallone and a roll call of ‘80s action icons and younger ass-kickers at its disposal for** The Expendables** would be enough for Millennium Films in terms of film franchises. But no! The company has just splashed the cash to buy Spenser Cohen’s high-concept script **High Value Target.
Cohen will also be directing the planned low-budget movie, which would follow Mantis, a tough special ops team that attacks and boards a boat sailed by Somali pirates.
Utilising the current trend for found footage, the story will be largely told from the point of view of the troopers, many of who will have cameras attached to their uniforms and helmets.
The aim is to keep it largely in one location, a la The Raid, and to drum up realism as with Act Of Valour. Hopefully, however, the dialogue will be better than the latter.
Cohen developed the script with Zachary Luna and will now have to see if the idea makes it through to the screen. If it does, and it’s a success, Millennium will look to turn this into essentially the Paranormal Activity of action movies.
