First it was Zoe Saldana. Then Olivia Munn was all set to star. Now, in a move that makes the film increasingly appear to be a game of pass the parcel, Milla Jovovich is taking over the lead in new sci-fi assassin thriller Hummingbird.
Nothing to do with the UK name for the 2013 Jason Statham action pic, this Hummingbird has Swedish directing duo Markus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom are working on this one. Details on the story are limited at the moment, but it's described as in the vein of Lucy with a hint of Jason Bourne, where an assassin's latest target throws her on a journey of self-discovery.
John McClain (nope, just a writer, and he's missing an "e" on the end of his name regardless) scripted the original drafts, but with Jovovich stepping aboard, her regular collaborator and real-world other half Paul WS Anderson is at work on a new revision. The aim is to have the movie shooting this summer, but given its history so far, we are not holding our breath.
Jovovich has worked on Rob Reiner's Shock And Awe, and will be the villain in the new Hellboy film, playing Nimue the Blood Queen. That reboot will be out next year.
