Looks likeMiles Teller is ready for some peril on the sea. He's on board to star in a new based-on-truth tale called Not Without Hope.
Rupert Wainwright is in the director's chair for the film, with E. Nicholas Mariani adapting Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman's book. Teller would play Schuyler, who along with best friend Will Bleakley and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, set off in 2009 from Clearwater, Florida for a day trip to their favorite fishing spot 70 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. Yet as a severe storm headed their way, a trapped anchor and a tragic mistake in trying to free it caused the boat to capsize, throwing the four violently into the freezing water. With the US Coast Guard air and sea rescue mission beaten back by the ferocity of the storm, the group had to fight to survive in the ultimate test of teamwork and endurance. Suffice to say, it didn't end well for everyone.
The film boasts a couple of celebrity producers from outside the film world, as Seattle Seahawks NFL player Russell Wilson and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ciara are backing the film via their company Why Not You. The rights for the drama will be on sale at the Cannes online film market, which launches soon.
