Don-Cheadle-Miles-ahead

It’s all about improvisation. So ran Miles Davis’ mantra, a philosophy that should run through Don Cheadle’s biopic of the jazz legend, Miles Ahead. These three new posters have an improvisational quality to them, too. Look, it’s Ant-Man escaping War Machine…

Cheadle’s sideways look at the innovative, experimental musical great takes an episodic approach to his life. Starting with a druggy stupor, mourning his lover, dancer Francis Taylor (Emayatzy Corinealdi), it sees him get back in the game with new music that piques his studio’s interest. When they hear it, they hear the sound of cash registers ringing.

Ewan McGregor plays fictional Rolling Stone journo Dave Braden. The pair have a friendly-hostile relationship: Brill wants his comeback story; Davis mostly just wants to punch him in the face. Michael Stuhlbarg is the bullish exec who keeps the studio’s end up in the face of their dazzling, erratic, volatile talent.

Miles Ahead will be casting its musical spell on April 22 in the UK.
