His term at Hogwarts over, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell has already lined up his next project. He’ll be directing an adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' (no, that’s not the one from Y Tu Mama Tambien) Nobel-prize winning novel Love in the Time of Cholera.
The story tells of a decades spanning love triangle set in South America and was first published in 1985, winning instant acclaim. The screenplay has been written by The Pianist scribe Ronald Harwood.
New Line, the studio behind the adaptation, is scouting locations Central and South America with an eye to a spring 2006 start.
