Swedish director Mikael Hafstrom just can’t stop giving into the desire to direct horror movies, it would seem. For though he has alternated between scare fests and more straightforward thrillers like Derailed, he keeps coming back to supernatural tales of terror. His last film was exorcism chiller The Rite and now he’s signed on to make a new movie for Hammer Films called Wake.
Not much is known about the plot right now, but The Wrap reports that it’ll feature a modern day take on Jekyll and Hyde and will feature a character that shoves the boundaries and, more importantly, feels no fear. Much like every iteration of Robert Louis Stevenson’s tale, we’re guessing this leads to some very bad things happening.
The Vatican Tapes’ Christopher Borrelli dreamed up the concept originally, but Hafstrom will work from a new draft of the script cranked out by Deepwater Horizon writer Matt Sand.
Wake will make just the most recent commission by Hammer, which has been shoving its production output into a higher gear in the last couple of years, with Daniel Radcliffe-starring horror The Woman in Black set to hit early next year.
