While there is bad news for fans of David Lynch’s new trip to his twisted small town in America with word that the show is definitely being pushed back to 2017, at least we have a positive update to balance the feeling that someone pooped in our pie. Miguel Ferrer is bringing FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield back to Twin Peaks.
Rosenfield himself might not be too thrilled at the news – he famously made a bad first impression with the residents with his abrasive, cynical, big-city style. But he eventually won a few friends. Of course, we don’t know what he’ll be up to in the new series, which Lynch is busy making alongside co-creator Mark Frost, as the pair has been keeping as much as they possibly can behind a tighter wall of security than even J.J. Abrams uses.
Still, a few pieces of information have snuck out here and there, largely thanks to sighting of actors shooting scenes. The only person officially confirmed besides the creative duo is lynchpin Kyle McLachlan as Agent Dale Cooper, last seen – spoiler alert – in the series and prequel film trapped in the Black Lodge. But it appears that Ferrer is just the latest original cast member to join the new proposed 18-episode run being produced for US cable channel Showtime. Sheryl Lee and David Patrick Kelly have been seen on set alongside new arrivals Jennifer Jason Leigh, Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried.
Ferrer can currently be found as part of the cast of US procedural drama NCIS: LA.
