During the many, many years that a Sin City sequel has been in development, one of the biggest question marks has been whether Mickey Rourke would return to play Marv in the prequel/sequel/interquel. Now it seems that he's willing to don the necessary prosthetics once more, as he's in talks for the role in A Dame To Kill For. And he's also in negotiations for Albert Hughes' Motor City to boot.
To take the latter first, the film is set to star Gerard Butler (replacing the briefly-cast Jake Gyllenhaal) as an ex-Army Ranger named John Miller who is betrayed and sent to prison by a man who then also steals his girlfriend (insult to injury, that). We're not sure yet what role Rourke would be playing - surely he wouldn't steal Butler's girl! - but hopefully all will become clear as and when he signs up.
As for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Rourke would once again play insanely hard hard-man Marv, who paid a fatal visit to the electric chair in the last film after going on a revenge killing spree over the death of a prostitute. Still, since this is a chronologically varied sequel, that doesn't stop him reappearing here.
Sin City**: A Dame To Kill For** is due out, in 3D, on October 4, 2013, and **Motor City **is also due next year. We'll be keeping an eye on both as they move forward.
