No, the headline does not mean that Mickey Rourke and Twilight’s Kellan Lutz are getting out of the film business and are now pimping a new Lynx deodorant scent: the pair has signed on to Margate House Films’ new indie thriller Java Heat.
With Conor Allyn behind the camera, Heat will see a mysterious American type (Lutz) putting aside his anti-Islamic tendencies to team up with a Muslim cop in order to take down a light-fingered, jewel-theft-happy group of terrorists in Southeast Asia. Rourke will be on the other side of the law, playing a gem thief who dreams up the terror types’ nasty schemes. Seems fitting.
The new film is part of a wave of productions that have attracted actors to Asia to work. Rourke and Lutz join a list that already includes the likes of Christian Bale and Kevin Spacey. It also marks something of a reunion for the pair, who already worked together on the incoming Immortals.
Allyn scribbled the script with his father, Rob, and has already kicked off shooting.
