Michelle Monaghan Finds Better Living

Better Living Through Chemistry had already enticed Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Garner into the warm embrace of its drug-fuelled story, but now Michelle Monaghan and Judi Dench are also stepping aboard the film.

David Posamentier and Geoff Moore, who wrote the script and saw it land on last year’s Black List of best unproduced screenplays, are stepping up to take it out of that state with a shot at co-directing the eventual film. No word yet on whether Fatboy Slim's debut album of the same name will provide the soundtrack, but 90s kids can dream.

Renner is attached to star as a small-town pharmacist stuck in a largely loveless marriage who gets a new lease on life when he strikes up an affair with an experimental, pill-popping trophy wife (the role Garner is supposed to be playing, though it almost feels like Monaghan would fit that role, with Garner as Renner’s wife).

Posamentier and Moore have $8 million to play with, and the film is being pre-sold at the European Film Market. The aim is to have the thing shooting this August in Washington or Georgia.
