The last time there was a casting story about Michael Rooker (forThe Suicide Squad) it was, despite his history of collaborating with James Gunn, debunked quickly by the actor himself. We feel on firmer ground with a new piece of info, as Rooker's own site has announced he's part of the cast of Amazon Prime's The Dark Tower TV series, adapted from Stephen King's stories.
The show, from former Walking Dead producer Glen Mazzara, will be distinct from the movie that arrived to little fanfare back in 2017. It aims to turn back the clock to explore Gunslinger Roland Deschain's (Sam Strike) origin story, taking place years before what we saw in the movie as it chronicles his first conflict with the Man in Black, his first love and his first mission.
Rooker's role in unknown at this point, but he joins a cast that also includes Jasper Pääkköne and, according to the man himself, Game Of Thrones veteran Jerome Flynn. 13 episodes are scheduled for the first season, with shooting on the initial instalment under way in Croatia. The show should hit screens next year.
Rooker will pop up in the Gunn-produced Brightburn, due to hit UK screens on 19 June.
