The good word continues on the casting front for Neil Gaiman's TV adaptation of Good Omens, adapting the beloved cult novel he wrote with Terry Pratchett. Now part of the cast are Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson and Jack Whitehall.
David Tennant and Michael Sheen are already aboard the show, which aims to channel the book, a combination of both Pratchett and Gaiman's writing styles. By turns dark, philosophical and barkingly funny, Good Omens finds Angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and demon Crowley (Tennant) grown rather fond of Earth and are thusly annoyed to discover that the Antichrist is going to show up and bring it to an end.
Whitehall will be wages clerk-turned-witch hunter Newt Pulsifer, with McKean as Sgt. Shadwell, the leader of the witch-finder army who sends him on his mission. Richardson will play Madame Tracy, a psychic medium and part-time courtesan who helps the demon and angel as they try to save the world.
Also in the cast? Adria Arjona as Anathema Device, Ned Dennehy as Hastur, a Duke of Hell, Ariyon Bakare as fellow Duke Ligur, Jasmine Hyde playing Sister Grace and Nina Sosanya as Sister Mary Loquacious.
Gaiman has written the six-part series and will serve as showrunner with Douglas Mackinnon aboard to direct. The show is scheduled to hit Amazon worldwide in 2019, followed by BBC Two at a later date.
