The Founder

The true story of how McDonald's went from a humble family-run business to a megacorp slinging burgers and other fatty treats to billions around the world is not without its controversy. That story is headed for our screens via The Founder, starring Michael Keaton. See the new trailer for the movie below.

The Founder sees Keaton's Ray Kroc as the Illinois businessman who saw something in the small restaurant owned and operated by brothers Richard "Dick" McDonald (Nick Offerman) and Maurice "Mac" McDonald (John Carroll Lynch) in the 1950s. He subtly maneuvered himself into a position to take over the company (think There Will Be Blood, but with more ketchup), buying up the burgeoning chain for $2.7 million in 1961 and spawning the behemoth that is still lurking on our streets today. Needless to say, Dick and Mac definitely weren't "lovin'" his tactics.

With a script by Robert D. Siegel and John Lee Hancock in the director's chair, The Founder also stars Laura Dern, Patrick Wilson and Linda Cardellini. It'll finally arrive on UK screens on 10 February.
