Gone are the days when you'd wait years for a Terrence Malick film. There were two decades between Days Of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, but he's positively tearing through them at the moment. To The Wonder is out there somewhere, he's just finished shooting Knight Of Cups, and he's already at work on the currently untitled project that used to be called Lawless. And look - there's Michael Fassbender with Ryan Gosling!
We already knew - as far as you can know anything about a Malick film before it's released - that Gosling was starring in this film with, to some extent, Rooney Mara, Holly Hunter and Natalie Portman. This is the first we've heard that Fassbender was on set though. Of course, it may not be a significant role, or even end up in the final cut. But still: Gosling and Fassbender... That can't be bad, right?
Malick VIII, which lost its title when Malick graciously let John Hillcoat have it, is apparently a relationship drama set amid the music culture of Austin, Texas. To The Wonder is scheduled for its full release next year, so if celebrity satire Knight Of Cups follows that, it's likely to be some while before Untitled sees the light of day.
Fassbender meanwhile, has just been shooting The Counsellor with Ridley Scott, and will be off to X-Men: Days Of Future Past shortly. We'll probably next see him in Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave, due next year.
