Though its early seasons drew plenty of praise (and awards), it's fair to say that forensic-scientist-is-secret-serial-killer show Dexter didn't exactly stick the landing for its final couple of episode batches. So Michael C. Hall and the team will be hoping that people are actually ready for more, as the character is returning with a 10 episode "limited" series for original home Showtime across the pond.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips is also back, though any details on who Hall's Dexter Morgan might be facing off against this time are only known by his Dark Passenger. The series saw him as a killer who (usually) targeted other serial slayers, in between shifts as a blood spatter expert at the Miami police department.

"Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago," says Showtime's Gary Levine in a statement. "We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!"
