Michael Bay Unveils New Transformer

John Ford, Stanley Kubrick, Sergio Leone: all filmmakers that have made iconic use of Utah's extraordinary Monument Valley. And joining that elite pantheon now is Michael Bay, for the no-doubt equally classic Transformers 4, which has just started shooting in the rocky desert vista. To celebrate the occasion, Bay has revealed a mysterious new Transformer, taking the sleek form of a 2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Coupe.

The car is, says Bay, "extraordinary and exhilarating", although he gives no indication of which space robot it'll be unfolding into. Lamborghinis in the original toy line included Autobots Sideswipe (red) and Sunstreaker (yellow), but given Bay's free and easy attitude to Transformers canon, that may not be an indicator of anything.

Lambo (as we're going to call it for now) is joining the rest of the Autobots and Decepticons alongside humans Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, Jack Reynor, Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci and TJ Miller, in a tale that sees humanity still recovering from the horrendous Battle Of Chicago but facing new threats from within and without.

As well as Utah, Bay is shooting in Texas, Michigan, Illinois and China, with Transformers 4 set to arrive in cinemas on June 27 next year.
