Look, it's become customary to joke about the fact that Michael Bay will follow up his latest bangstravaganza with a quiet film set in the Cotswolds, where nothing explodes and the most urgent drama is a vicar who is a bit late for a service. But Bay lives and breathes action movies, and is now closing in on his next chunk of Bayhem. He's in talks with Sony to direct Black 5.
The script for this one comes from Ehren Kruger, who worked with Bay on three of the Transformers films (not necessarily the good ones), and the storyline is mostly under wraps. All anyone has heard is that it's an ensemble thriller that appears to focus on an elite military team that has advanced technology backing them up.
If Bay does definitely sign on, he'll also be involved in developing a video game take on the story, which is being develop concurrently. It would mark the next film from the director once he finishes up post-production work in Six Underground, which stars Ryan Reynolds and will show up on Netflix this December.
