He's long proven his acting chops in films such as Creed and Fruitvale Station. Now Michael B. Jordan is looking to expand his filmmaking range, planning to produce, write and direct The Stars Beneath Our Feet.
Endeavor Content picked up the rights to David Barclay Moore's book this September, and is now looking to have Jordan tackle the adaptation. The story follows 12-year-old Lolly Rachpaul, a boy reeling from his older brother’s death in a gang-related shooting a few months earlier. Then Lolly’s mother’s girlfriend brings him a gift that will change everything: two enormous bags filled with Legos. Lolly’s always loved Legos, and he prides himself on following the kit instructions exactly. Now, faced with a pile of building blocks and no instructions, Lolly must find his own way forward...
"Directing has been an area I’ve wanted to explore for some time now," Jordan tells Deadline. "The Stars Beneath Our Feet tells a story that really spoke to me, and I’m looking forward to jumping behind the camera. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some very smart and talented directors and it inspired me to take on this new challenge."
Jordan has a few projects on the way, including an HBO adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 and Black Panther, which arrives in the UK on 16 February.
