As films start to gear back into production, we're seeing more announcements about actors jumping aboard. But here's a more unusual story – a film that was able to shoot during the pandemic featuring Melissa Leo, Frank Grillo, Josh Hartnett and William Forsythe in the main roles.
Ida Red, directed by John Swab, shot in Oklahoma following all the usual current safety protocols, is a crime thriller following career criminal Ida ‘Red’ Walker (Leo) who is battling a terminal illness while serving a 25-year prison sentence. Under Ida’s tutelage, her son, Wyatt Walker (Hartnett) has sustained the family business, alongside his uncle, Dallas Walker (Grillo). When a job goes awry, local detective and Wyatt’s brother-in-law, Bodie Collier (Slaine), is joined by FBI agent Lawrence Twilley (Forsythe), to track down the responsible party.
Sofia Hublitz, Deborah Ann Woll, Mark Boone Junior, Beau Knapp and Nicholas Cirillo are all also in the cast for the film, which is now being put together in post-production.
