Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is sailing swiftly towards us and today brings a pictorial treat a little different from the parade of posters, banners or Johnny Depp looking kooky. Disney has decided instead to go a little spooky, giving IGN some new concept art of the zombies – yes, we said zombies – which Cap’n Jack and co will meet in the movie.
Drawn by concept artist Miles Teves, the new images promise appealingly grim zomboids that put us in mind of the ghoulish spirit pirates from the first film. And frankly, anything that reminds of the original **Curse of the Black Pearl **instead of the waterlogged sequels is all right by us.
As for Stranger Tides’ plot, this adventure sees Jack Sparrow on a hunt for the mythical Fountain of Youth alongside friend/nemesis (frenemesis?) Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Along the way, they fall afoul of not just Jack’s ex, Angelica (Penelope Cruz) but also her feared pirate pop, Blackbeard (Ian McShane). Plus: mermaids! And, as you can clearly see, zombie types who we figure will play into the whole Eternal Youth angle.
