Meet Your Doom

First look at the FF's foe

So, we've all seen the official mugshots of the Fantastic Four and been pretty excited by the whole thing (the jury is probably still out on The Thing, though). But until now someone has been missing, and that someone is Victor Von Doom, aka ultimate FF baddie, Dr. Doom. You need wait no longer though as the first official image of the Doomatollah has been released over on Superhero Hype, and if you drift your eyes slightly to the left you'll see Julian McMahon in costume. Go on, we'll be waiting right here till you get back. Seen it? Notice anything amiss? How about the fact that, oh we don't know, you can actually see his face? Yes, the trademark steel armour and green cloak are notably absent from the shot, as are the horrific burns that force Von Doom to don them in the first place. For anyone unfamiliar with this most iconic of comic villains, Doom was originally a student at Empire State University along with the FF's Reed Richards and Ben Grimm. However, after an experiment goes awry (not the one where you turn a King Edward potato into a clock, this was rather more volatile) Doom is horribly scarred and subsequently expelled. Some kindly Tibetan monks furnish him with his suit of armour which, apart from being rather scary, enables him to fly, avoid injury and has a number of offensive capabilities including enhanced strength. Disappointing as it is, saving the Doom armour for the film itself may actually be a smart move, and spare a thought for poor McMahon as well. No one will be able to recognise him for most of the film so the man needs as much exposure (literally) as he can get. Click here for a larger version.
