If you've been waiting to see what the cast of Kenneth Branagh's new take on Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express look like in their finery, then the day has arrived. Entertainment Weekly has premiered the first look, and you can see a selection below.
Branagh, who plays quirky detective Hercule Poirot as well as directing, has clearly decided that his version of the redoubtable investigator should sport a moustache to rival that of any other, though we're not sure about his attitude to train safety, standing in front of a giant steam engine like that. Perhaps the locomotive will simply bounce off the 'tache?
Also pictured? The likes of Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Olivia Colman, Hamilton veteran Leslie Odom Jr., Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and one Johnny Depp, who plays the ill-fated Edward Ratchett. The story remains largely the same: an eclectic group of passengers is trapped on the titular train when it becomes stranded in a huge snowdrift. One of them is murdered, and the suspect – possibly more than one – is still aboard... Cue Poirot figuring out the mystery.
With such a loaded cast (Josh Gad, Michelle Pfeiffer and Penelope Cruz are also present), you can only imagine the overcrowding in the make-up trailer, Though as Branagh attests, the stacked ensemble was largely thanks to juggling schedules. "It was a ton of planning, I’ll tell you," he says. "A delicate web of availability." For more on the film, and some additional photos, head to EW's site.
Murder On The Orient Express will pull into UK cinemas on 3 November.
