Bill Hader. Anna Faris. Andy Samberg. Bruce Campbell. Mr. T. James Caan. Tracy Morgan. And a load of meatballs.

No, it’s not Empire’s dream guest list for a dinner party. Instead, the seven aforementioned actors have signed on to lend their voices to a new animated 3D comedy set to hit in 2010. And the meatballs? Well, the film’s called Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.

Based on the bestselling kids’ book written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett, the film takes place in a small town where it doesn’t rain water… it rains food.

Hader, the talented SNL star whose movie career has so far consisted of a series of pinch-hitting cameos in the likes of Hot Rod and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, will take lead duty as Flint Lockwood, a young and idealistic inventor. Faris will play Sam Sparks, a perky weathergirl who deliberately obscures her intelligence.

But as excited as we are about them, it’s not half as excited as we are about the prospect of a film that teams Bruce Campbell with Mr. T – even if it is voices-only.

The film has been adapted for the screen by Phil Lord and Shrek 3 director Chris Miller. The pair will also direct the film for Sony Pictures Animation. The release date has already been set: Jan. 15, 2010.
