McHale Finds A Friggin' Xmas Miracle

Christmas is now more than a month behind us, so it’s time to start thinking about the next festive season. OK, OK, stop throwing leftover Chrimbo cake at us! We just mean some people – in this case Joel McHale, Lauren Graham and Robin Williams – are looking to spend the next tinsel time in an odd comedy called A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle.

Written by Wreck-It Ralph’s Phil Johnston, Miracle introduces Boyd Mitchler (McHale) and wife Luann (Graham), who dread spending time with Boyd’s dad Mitch (Williams). He shares a house with a bunch of idiots that Boyd was glad to get away from.

But then our hero discovers that he’s left all of his son’s gifts at home, which means he has to embark on an eight-hour round-trip with his dad to save Christmas morning.

Tristram Shapeero, who cut his teeth directing TV comedies such as Parks And Recreation, Veep and Community (so he and McHale will have an established rapport), is directing, and shooting is set to kick off next month. There’s an even bigger Community connection, though, as Joe and Anthony Russo, who produce that show (and are making Captain America: The Winter Soldier) are backing Friggin’ Christmas. Streets ahead! For the record, however, we don't think this counts as part of the "Six Seasons And A Movie" plan, so don't go getting any ideas.
