McG is already preparing for life post-Terminator Salvation by signing on to direct the spy movie, Dead Spy Running.
The director and part-time Steve McClaren look-a-like looks like he’ll undergo something of a critical re-evaluation next summer if the fourth Terminator film turns out to be as good, and as successful, as early footage has promised.
And so he’s clearly keen to get another film under his belt and capitalise on any newly-generated heat, before possibly returning for another crack at the new Terminator trilogy.
Not much is known about Dead Spy Running at the moment, mainly because it’s based on a book, by Brit writer Jon Stock, that won’t be published until next July. All we do know is that it’s about the origins of a newly-trained spy.
But galleys are wonderful things, and presumably McG has had a quick read, liked what he saw, and has set up the project at Warner Bros., for himself and Jeanne Allgood to produce via their company, Wonderland Sound And Vision.
Given the title, and that brief synopsis, we can’t help but think that this seems to be just another Bourne clone. But we’re sure that there’s a lot more to Dead Spy Running than meets the eye. When we find out more, we’ll let you know.
