McG Considering RIPD?

Despite a merry carousel of leading men joining and leave it, **Terminator Salvation **director McG is ramping up to make action comedy This Means War his next project. But after that? It would seem that to follow the tale of duelling spies, he’s looking to stick with the action genre for comic book adaptation** RIPD**.

The film, which has Ryan Reynolds attached to star as one half of a deceased cop duo, follows the pair as they patrol the streets looking to keep restless spirits from misbehaving. The cops are a rookie who has only recently died (and who is looking for the people who killed him) and a gunslinger who’s been on the job for centuries. We're guessing Reynolds is the former.

Adapted from Peter M Lenkov’s Dark Horse comic, the script has been drifting in limbo for years, and will still have to wait a while, since Reynolds is a little busy with Green Lantern and then has at least two other movies on his schedule, including, if it comes together, Deadpool.

This Means War, meanwhile, has Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon locked in and appeared to hook Tom Hardy at the end of last month for the story of secret agents who compete for the love of a woman by employing some seriously dirty tricks.

Right now, according to Pajiba, McG is simply circling the** RIPD **project, and given how far it is from being ready to shoot, he could always drop out before it gets moving.
