Warner Brothers thinks there’s gold in them thar stars. Well, Fool’s Gold anyway. The studio has hired Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson – last seen gracing the screen together in rom com How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days – for the adventure comedy.

Gold started life as a spec script in 2001 penned by John Claflin and Dan Zelman. But now, thanks to Hollywood’s ever-present development process, it’ll hit the screen under the pen of Kenneth “Gangs Of New York” Lonergan.

And Hitch helmer Andy Tenant will call the shots on a tale of married treasure hunters who have been fruitlessly seeking a rumoured bounty. After eight years, they’re broke, out of petrol and just about to chuck in the relationship. But then they stumble on a clue that might just lead them to the big score… Are they destined to live happily ever after? Only time and test screening scores will tell…
